II INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS of SAFETY in PORTS

Following the organization in 2015 the first International Congress of Safety in Ports, which met at the facilities of Pazo de Mariñán in A Coruna (Spain) to more than 100 people from Spain, UK, Netherlands, Italy, Venezuela, Mexico, Colombia and Portugal, the next on 13 and 14 October will take place, also in Pazo of Mariñán, the second SIP International Congress, with the intention of becoming an international benchmark in the port sector and establish itself as a forum for exchange of information on industrial safety in seaports.
This time, among other speakers (http://congresosip.es/congreso-sip-2016/ponentes/), will have the participation of the American National Fire Protection Agency, whose standards, known as National Fire Codes are recognized as the largest international reference concerning fire safety.
Among the topics will be of particular relevance the remarkable growth of traffic of liquefied gases and biofuels in ports and their impact on safety during transport, transfer and storage, the necessary coordination in managing chemical risks between sea related industry (ships, platforms) and adjacent land (docks and terminals), the emergency management difficulties in legal competences, the implementation of new technologies in systems security management, design-based services as an alternative to the application of obsolete or inadequate regulations for the sector, etc.
