ENERGY TRANSITION IN PORTS
Ports are currently undergoing an unprecedented transformation. The energy transition, driven by decarbonization targets, the electrification of processes, and the incorporation of new energy technologies, is redefining the role of port infrastructure as critical nodes in the global logistics, industrial, and energy chain.
The integration of renewable energies, large-scale photovoltaic installations, battery storage systems, dock electrification, alternative fuels and, on an increasingly imminent horizon, hydrogen and its derivatives, introduces undeniable opportunities in terms of sustainability and competitiveness. However, this evolution also brings with it the emergence of new industrial and fire risk scenarios, characterized by complex phenomena, emerging technologies, and a still limited casuistry from a regulatory and operational point of view.
In this context, industrial safety is no longer an accessory element but has become a strategic factor in the port energy transition. Anticipating risks, adapting regulatory frameworks, training operators and providing emergency services with adequate knowledge and resources is essential to ensure that decarbonisation takes place without compromising the safety of people, infrastructure and the operational continuity of ports.
This Industrial Safety in Ports Congress was created with the aim of providing a space for rigorous analysis and the exchange of experiences between port authorities, industry, technicians, emergency services and the scientific community. It is a forum in which to address, from a technical and preventive perspective, how to manage the emerging risks associated with the energy transition and how to make safety an essential ally of the port of the future.
